January Reports for:
Land Development Committee
The Committee on Land Development had its first meeting this month where members began studying issues regarding infrastructure development in new residential subdivisions and commercial/industrial projects. The committee heard from several affected groups such as DENR, Surety Bonding, and municipal building/planning inspections.
Food Desert Zones Committee
The Food Desert Zones Committee met for the first time this month and had a large crowd of interested parties. Its purpose is to study the availability of quality local grown foods to a variety of populations in N.C. The committee heard from groups such as N.C. Agriculture Department, Farmers Markets, DSS (SNAP, WIC), and Organic Food Producers.
Mechanics Liens Committee
The Mechanics Liens Committee met for the first time this month to study an unresolved situation in NC lien law. It heard from attorneys representing both sides of the issue at hand as well as industry representatives and the industry itself.
Common Core State Standards Committee
The Common Core State Standards Committee was postponed this month but is tentatively scheduled to meet Feb. 20 in Raleigh for its second (of four) meeting.
Economic Development & Global Engagement Oversight Committee Meeting
The Economic Development & Global Engagement Oversight Committee Meeting did not meet this month but is scheduled to meet Feb. 6 in Raleigh for its third (of four) meetings.
