Reid, Smith to face off for sheriff in second primary

A second primary election for the office of sheriff will be held in July, according to the Anson County Board of Elections.

Mike Smith, who earned 1,400 votes (33.60 percent) will be challenging Landric Reid, who won the majority of the votes in the first primary with 1,650 (39.6 percent).

One-Stop Early Voting will be held at the Anson County Board of Elections office from July 3-12. Election Day will be on July 15. The last day to request an absentee ballot will be July 8. Voting will be held from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. each day.

Whether or not they voted in the first primary, Democrats will be allowed to vote. Unaffiliated voters who voted Democratic in the first primary or who did not vote at all in the first primary will also be able to vote.
