A Christian organization built a wheelchair ramp for a local man July 20.

Carolina Cross Connection built the ramp for a man on City Pond Road. The organization is a Christian outreach ministry in western North Carolina.

Volunteers join together for a week at a time to provide minor repairs and services to people in need. Volunteers range in age from rising eighth-graders to adults.

For the past few summers, Carolina Cross Connection youth volunteers have helped to provide repairs to needy families in Anson County.

Carolina Cross Connection camp is headquartered in Albemarle, and youth participating in the camp spend a few days every summer helping needy people in the area with various home repair projects, such as painting, repairing porches or decks, adding wheelchair ramps, repairing roofs, cutting weeds and other tasks.

The camps are held at five locations in western North Carolina: Camp Carolwood, Camp Loy White, Camp McCall, Joshua Youth Camp and West Wilkes Middle School. The Joshua Youth Camp volunteers will be serving Anson County again July 31 through Aug. 6.

The ramp was donated by Richard Wright of R.J. Wright Company.

Anyone interested in volunteering with the Lincolnton-based organization may call (704)-982-8946 or e-mail ccc@carolinacrossconnection.org.
