Wadesboro — On Thursday, Feb. 16, surrounded by members of his family, Richard Johnson officially filed as a Republican candidate for the North Carolina State House in District 55. Johnson has lived and worked in District 55 all his life.
“Today is an emotional day for me and my family,” Johnson said. “I am honored that we live in a free country where we have the freedom and ability to run for public office. I am not a politician, rather I have worked my entire life to raise a family and provide jobs for many people. My record as a conservative Republican is strong and my message resonates with many people inside this district.”
“The liberals in Raleigh have messed up our state long enough,” he continued. “I look forward to working with Speaker Tillis and our Republican leadership to advance our conservative agenda of low taxes, less spending and traditional family values.”
Johnson is a resident of Wadesboro and owns Johnson Insurance Agency. He is a member of First Baptist Church of Wadesboro, where he serves as deacon. He is also chairman of the Pee Dee Electric Membership Corporation. He is a member of both the Union and Anson County Chambers of Commerce.
