The Morven Chapter of Las Amigas, Incorporated will hold its annual Virtuous Woman Program at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 1 at White Oak Baptist Church in Morven. This year’s theme is, “Virtuous women: Staying faithful in troubling times.”

Each year, a woman is recognized by Las Amigas for living a life of service and dedication to helping others in Anson County. This woman is identified as a Virtuous Woman and holds the position for one year. Donna Lynn Davis of Stanly County was acknowledged as last year’s Virtuous Woman.

The speaker for the event this year will be Pamela Blount of Charlotte. Blount is a certified speaker with the Mecklenburg Speaker’s Bureau. She partners with other organizations to end the spread of domestic violence and she works to educate the public on the subject.

Blount was born and reared in Anson County, where she attended Anson High School. She is currently employed with Mecklenburg County and the CDC, where she and her team handles all of the state reporting for STD/HIV and AIDS cases.

In her spare time, Blount loves cross word puzzles, shopping with her girls and dinner dates with her friends, but her passion is domestic violence education and participating in events to bring awareness to the subject. Her own story of hope and deliverance has been a valuable tool in reaching those dealing with the issue. Blount is married and has three children.

The Virtuous Woman Program is free and open to the public. For more information about this event, contact Winnie M. Bennett at 704-851-9269 or any member of the Morven Chapter of Las Amigas, Incorporated.
