Anson County Sheriff Landric Reid crowned Za’Kiyah Zyei Hixson as Little Miss HOLLA! on April 8.

Inspired by the success of the U.S. Olympics Gymnastics Team in Rio, the pageant’s theme was, “The World’s Greatest.”

“We are all born with greatness inside of us; it is just waiting for us to allow it to show and develop,” Johnie Pettiford, pageant director, said.

The first runner-up was Siyanna Juanelle Webster, and Sa’Layah Faith Simons placed as the second runner-up. Talent was provided by Alfonzo Rembert, a 13-year-old Anson resident, who sang renditions of, “His Eye is on the Sparrow,” and, “Step Aside”.

HOLLA! took a break from the action to recognize Angela Catina Caraway of The Caraway Foundation and The Shaundasia T. Smith Foundation, and Deborah Davis, director of the Youth Career Connect Program at Anson High School, for their contributions toward the betterment of the Anson County Community, especially as it relates to motivating youth to succeed.

Proceeds from The Little Miss HOLLA! Pageant go toward support of HOLLA! Literacy Projects and The Mary E. Little Scholarship.
