The Burnsville Recreation and Learning Center’s volunteers are always ready to help neighbors who enter the center.

Throughout the month of December, 158 families and 394 individuals received food. Under the U.S. Department of Agriculture food program, 93 families and 218 individuals were provided with food. The Kids Café program provided 92 meals and snacks to children after school.

Donations from the community provided the learning center with six bikes to give to needy children at Christmas.

At 9 a.m. every third Wednesday, Carolinas Medical Center-Anson health nurse Mrs. Wilson will be visiting the learning center to provide blood pressure checks and discuss any health issues or concerns community members may have.The monthly visits are open to all.

Learning center staff recognized the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina/Feeding America, USDA, Anson Crisis Ministry of Wadesboro and “a host of local churches, civic organizations, local businesses, local individuals, foundations and volunteers” for helping the BRLC fulfill its mission.
