PEACHLAND — Peachland-Polkton Elementary School hosted its annual Career Day on Friday, March 11. Community members visited to tell students about their careers, their job duties, the level of education or training required, and which school subjects are important in their line of work.

Students learned from radiologists, police officers, a coach, a horse farrier, nurses, a land surveyor, a baker, paramedics, a fashion entrepreneur, a computer engineer, an athletic trainer, a pilot, a vet, a physical therapist, a doctor, an attorney, a Marine and the staff of the Anson County Animal Shelter.

The guest speakers put a lot of time and effort into their presentations. They made the lessons fun, hands-on and engaging to young students.

Peachland-Polkton Elementary administrators said they want students to realize the skills they are learning now will have an impact on their futures.

It is vital that we help our students realize their potential,” school counselor Sadie Shaver wrote. “These young kids are the future of our community. Our goal is to encourage them to strive for excellence. Special thanks to all of the guests who visited and made Career Day a success! Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedules to be a positive influence for students.”
