The North Carolina Advocates for Justice’s annual “Harvest for Hunger” food drive helped several needy Anson County families.

Attorney Fredrick Davis Poisson III of Wadesboro’s Poisson, Poisson and Bower law firm participated in the food drive and made contributions to the Faith-Based Center of Hope for food distributions.

“This was truly a blessing for the county and came at a much-needed time,” said Vancine Sturdivant, the center’s founder and an Anson County Board of Commissioners member. “Over one million North Carolinians live in poverty. One in four children in North Carolina are food-insecure.”

The N.C. Advocates for Justice and its 3,000 members say they are dedicated to protecting the rights of all North Carolinians. In 2015, the new lawyers’ division sponsored the annual food drive. More than 46 North Carolina law firms participated.
