A vigil in honor of the Orlando shooting victims will be held Wednesday evening.

The vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. in front of the Anson County Courthouse, according to county commissioner Vancine Sturdivant, who is organizing the vigil.

Early Sunday morning, a gunman killed 49 victims and injured 53 others after entering a gay nightclub, Pulse, in Orlando. Authorities said the suspect, Omar Mateen, had called 911 and sworn allegiance to ISIS before the attack, according to the Associated Press. Mateen was killed by police when they stormed the building.

The attack was the single worst mass shooting — by a single shooter — in the U.S. and the worst attack in the country since 9/11. Before Sunday, the deadliest mass shooting in the country was the attack at Virginia Tech in 2007, when a gunman killed 32 people before killing himself.
