The Anson County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors this week appointed Shelby Emrich as executive director.

Emrich has served as interim director since February, replacing longtime Director Lynn Edwards, who resigned earlier this year. Emrich has worked for the Chamber for five years.

In making the announcement, Chamber Board Chairman Richard Allen said that Emrich, since taking on the role as interim director, has shown the energy and enthusiasm they were looking for in a Chamber leader.

“She has done an exceptional and outstanding job,” he said in a statement. “We could not have asked for a better candidate. We are excited for Shelby and she has the full support of this board to move the Chamber forward in a positive direction.”

In accepting the full time director’s position, Emrich said that she is excited about this opportunity to serve as executive director and expects the remainder of 2016, and the years ahead, to be great for the Chamber.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to work with this Board and our membership,” she said in a statement. “We have a lot of great programs to offer. I see many positive things in the future for the Chamber, and businesses here in Anson County. I am really excited to serve in this position and I look forward to the opportunities and as well as the challenges ahead.”

The Anson County Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1963. Its mission statement is: “To promote and preserve the business climate and quality of life for the general welfare of all the citizens of Anson County and our members through diverse leadership and a shared vision of excellence.”
