Anson County Toys for Tots’ 2016 Campaign is open and accepting toys and monetary donations at Harvest Ministries Outreach Center. Apostle Tim Adams and Pastor Steve Adams have allowed the organization to conduct the campaign at the church’s facility.

Coordinator Vancine Sturdivant attended the Coordinator’s Training Conference in September at the National Conference Center, in Washington, DC.

The coordinators were greeted by United States Marine Corps Ret. Lieutenant General Pete Osman.

“Our primary goal is to give our youth and their parents joy and hope, especially the less fortunate,” Osman said.

Toys for Tots began in 1947 and is the largest non-profit organization in the United States.

This is the sixth Toys for Tots campaign held in Anson County.

“Each year, the needs of our less fortunate grows,” Sturdivant said. “And each year through the generosity of Anson County and other great citizens, we are able to continue putting a smile on the face of the children of this great county.

“We are asking all businesses, churches, organizations, town halls, everyone to please contribute,” Sturdivant continued. “We need your support. We want to thank Superintendent Michael Freeman and the Anson County school board for truly working with us to make sure every child in need gets an application. Fire Chief Marty K. Morton has stated not only will his fire department be a toy drop-off location this year, they will also — in conjunction with Lilesville Police Chief Bobby Gallimore — deliver toys to families. Mr. Robbie Hill and Danny Pearson, thank you for your generous monetary donation.”

Applications are available at the following locations:

• Department of Social Services — Priscilla Little

• Anson County Health Department

• Anson County Schools — Kam McDonald (call 704 851-9306)

• Grace Senior Center — Dr. Bernice Bennett

• Harvest Ministries Outreach Center — Vancine Sturdivant

“As the Toys for Tots coordinator, my goal is to bless every family possible and to continue having a successful campaign,” Sturdivant said. “This can happen by enhancing the teamwork among the volunteers, our Toys for Tots board, our donors and the families we come in contact with. Working together as a team, we can make this campaign one of our best. We look forward to the opportunity to service others.”
