Octavia Plays will present the holiday play, “The Beauty of it All” beginning this weekend.

The performances will be held at the Ansonia Theatre in uptown Wadesboro on Saturday and Sunday. To kick off the holiday season, three shows will be presented: a matinee at 2 p.m. and an evening performance at 5 p.m. on Saturday, and an afternoon performance on Sunday at 3 p.m.

“The Beauty of it All” was written, produced and directed by Lilesville native and Wadesboro resident, Charlette Rhue Bennett.

“This play is extremely relevant today because it depicts the uncertainties of our economy while offering an intimate, yet comical, bird’s-eye-view on how this fluctuating economy affects everyone,” Bennett said via email. “The setting for the play is in a beauty salon in Anywhere, USA that highlights a caring and compassionate beauty salon owner and her extremely selfish and critical co-worker and how they handle the economic recession and their extremely different personalities.”

Actors from Richmond and Anson counties will perform in the show. Bennett said they all “have worked really hard to bring this play to life.”

Tickets are $10 and are available at Rhue’s, Too! Beauty Salon in Rockingham and at Lacy’s in Wadesboro. There will be a limited number of tickets at the door, so theater-goers may want to get them ahead of time. Doors will open an hour before each performance.
