The Abbington Grove apartments in Wadesboro will open a little behind schedule, but should open half of the units by Jan. 1.

Rene’ M. Kennedy, district manager, said that the other half of the apartments should be completed by March.

Michelle Meegan is the county site manager.

The site includes 48 apartments: 32 two-bedroom and and 16 three-bedroom apartments.

“We’re really excited to be there, and we’ve gotten a really good turnout so far,” Kennedy said. “We had over 100 applications turned in and are going through the process to try and fill these up.”

Tenants will sign a 12-month lease. The entire property is smoke-free. Utilities are not included.

The apartment site includes a clubhouse, workout room, computer room and a kitchen area in the clubhouse. There is also a grilling area with a covered gazebo, a playground and a laundry room, though apartments will also have laundry hookups, Kennedy said.

“The annual income limit for a household size of four people is $31,980,” she said by email.

Kennedy added that pets will not be allowed, unless the tenant has paperwork from a physician stating that the pet is needed to assist with a disability.

The apartments are located at 1265 U.S. Highway 74, Wadesboro.

Apartment managers are currently accepting applications. To apply, visit 117 Wortham Street, Wadesboro. Call 704-851-4598 for more information.

Kennedy is based in Columbia, S.C. and is the district manager with Boyd Management, Inc., which manages the apartments. The apartments are owned and being developed by Rea Ventures Group, LLC, KRP Investments and Brock Ventures, according to Rea Ventures’ website.
