The annual Farm-City Week Banquet on Tuesday evening drew over 80 attendees for an evening of awards, dinner and laughter.

Four awards were presented as guests finished up their dinner catered by the Anson County Cattlemen’s Association. Tracie and Calvin Phillips of Phillips Farms won the Farmer of the Year Award. Gary and Kelly Sikes and their family at Bountiful Harvest Farm were given the Outstanding Agribusiness Award.

Brown Creek Soil and Water Conservation District presented two of the awards: Debbie and Lannie Allen and their family were given the Conservation Farm Family Award, and Dilliam Wessels was recognized as the Resource Conservation Workshop Participant.

Stage mentalist and magician Joshua Lozoff performed “The Deep Magic of Joshua Lozoff,” keeping the crowd guessing and laughing with his tricks, including card tricks, tossing a mixed Rubik’s cube and catching it fully solved, and a myriad of other acts. He taught one trick involving a scarf that disappeared at one location and reappeared at another to the audience members.

The event was sponsored by Pee Dee Electric Membership Corporation and is held annually at the Lockhart-Taylor Center.
