The Wadesboro Police Department has arrested Antonio Gainey and charged him with the shooting of his brother.
At about 3:57 a.m. on Sunday, WPD officers responded to a shooting on Madison Avenue on Gainey and found the victim, Lloyd Gainey, 29, sitting on the floor of his residence with a single gunshot wound to his right chest, according to Chief Thedis Spencer.
Family members administered first aid until officers secured the scene, then Anson Rescue transported him to CMC-Union. He was then was air-lifted to CMC-Main in Charlotte, where he was recovering from his wounds as of press time.
Investigating officers found that Lloyd was shot by his brother, Antonio Gainey, 32. Apparently, the shooting was the culmination of an argument over some missing alcoholic drinks that belonged to Antonio, according to Spencer.
Antonio turned himself in to the WPD and is being charged with one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury and one felony count of firearm by felon. He is being held in the Anson County Jail under a $25,000 secured bond.
