Eight ladies took part in Grace Senior Center’s second Senior Fashion Show, held Thursday morning at the Lockhart-Taylor Center in Wadesboro. Judges County Clerk Bonnie Huntley, Extension Agent Erin Dempsey and Grace Senior Center employee Wanda Talbott had a tough time deciding the four winners from among the stylish women who took a turn on the “catwalk.”
Rosa Smith, who wore a two-piece red suit and matching hat, was ultimately named the winner for both her outfit, and the way she confidently posed for the judges.
Second place winner was Viola Ingram, 97, who chose a black and cream floral dress for the show. Third place went to Barbara Bailey, last year’s overall winner, for her light green suit with ruffle and matching hat. Garfield Haley’s silver sequined hat and purse, paired with a cream dress, earned her fourth place.
The judges also awarded an honorable mention to Frankie Harrington, for her springy blue and black blouse with matching pants and jacket.
“Be proud of yourself and show it,” Nan Crump, who organized the fashion show, told the ladies. “Don’t think just because you’re older, you can’t look good.”
