Anson County’s unemployment rate for March was down another 0.3 percent from February, 7.3 percent.

The decline continues a downward trend for the county over the past few months.When compared to the same time period last year, unemployment is down a full 3.1 percent. March 2013’s unemployment rate for Anson County was 10.2.

Unemployment rates decreased in 59 counties around the state, increased in 23 counties and remained the same in 18, according to the report released Tuesday morning by the North Carolina Department of Commerce’s Labor and Economic Analysis Division.

Anson’s neighboring counties saw similar trends, although Union’s 5.7 percent rate remained flat for February and March. Richmond and Stanly counties saw slight decreases in their unemployment rates, 8.7 percent and 6 percent, respectively.

Graham County had the highest unemployment rate at 12.7 percent while Chatham County had the lowest at 4.6 percent.
