Wadesboro police arrested Randy Lee Henry for possession of precursor chemicals. It was the first such arrest for the Wadesboro Police Department since a new pseudoephedrine law meant to reduce the manufacturing of methamphetaime went into effect last month.

Police obtained the warrant to arrest Henry, 43, of Wadesboro on Jan. 2 and made the arrest on Jan. 3, according to the WPD.

The new law, North Carolina General Statute 90-95(d1)(1)(c) states, “It is unlawful for any person to possess a pseudoephedrine product if the person has a prior conviction for the possession or manufacture of methamphetamine.” It went into effect on Dec. 1, 2013.

Henry is in the Anson County Jail on a $5,000 secured bond.
