WINGATE — Wingate University’s physical therapy program will hold an open house Friday from 1-3 p.m. to showcase the new Doctor of Physical Therapy program. The program, with new faculty and a brand new curriculum, also got newly-renovated space.
The second floor of the Burnside-Dalton building on the main campus was completely remodeled to accommodate the program, with new offices, labs and classrooms. A state-of-the art human anatomy lab has two cameras for a birds’ eye view and an angled view from across the room for instruction display on monitors all around the room. Dr. Kevin Brueilly, founding director of the program, designed the curriculum from scratch using his years of education and experience. “The curriculum is founded on sound educational principles,” Brueilly said. “I was able to teach across the country, applying and picking up knowledge, seeing what works, taking it to the next level.”
Wingate University is the only higher education institution in the Charlotte region offering this type of program. The three-year program launched the inaugural class last month with 42 students. A professional white coat commencement ceremony was held on Jan. 18. Here is a video of that event: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywhaKMVIm6M.
Students, faculty and staff will be present to answer questions during the open house. Directions to the open house http://dpt.wingate.edu/visit/.
