Kimala D. Cox

Congratulations to one of Wadesboro’s American heroes, Kimala D. Cox. She is the daughter of Bernard and Juanita Cox of Miramar, Florida and Clara Thomas of Wadesboro, and the granddaughter of proud grandparents, Buck and Catherine Cox and Juanita Medley of Wadesboro.

Over the last 22 years, Kimala has severed her country with great pride and honor. Recently, she was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major after graduating from the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy on June 12 in El Paso, Texas. She has established herself highly within the military ranks of fast trackers.

Sgt. Maj. Kimala D. Cox has fought in multiple conflicts in Southeast Asia and throughout the Middle East. Her awards and accommodations speak volumes of her efforts to keep this country free from its adversaries.

Her promotion to sergeant major is coupled with her civilian education in which she recently received a master’s degree in procurement and acquisition management from Webster University.

Her son, Malik T. Cox, is attending college in Miami, Florida, and plans to join the Air Force as a commissioned officer upon graduation.
