Bearcats win first home game of the season, 33-20

The Bearcats won their first home game, 33-20, versus the Forest Hills Yellow Jackets on Friday night.
The teams each had 6 points by the end of the first quarter, with Jekev Robinson (#25, a senior) scoring the first touchdown. Manuel Alonso (#11, a junior) tried for a point after touchdown (PAT) but it was no good, leaving the score at 6-6 at the end of the quarter.
While the Bearcats were unable to score in the second quarter, the Yellow Jackets gained 7 points, bringing the score to 6-13.
The Yellow Jackets also scored a touchdown and extra point in the third quarter, bringing the score to 6-20. The Bearcats started to come back when Robinson scored a second touchdown for the Bearcats and Alonso scored the extra-point kick, improving the score to 13-20.
In the final quarter, Scott Kendall (#4, a senior) scored a touchdown and Alonso successfully tried for a PAT, bringing the score to an even 20-20. Senior Brandon Smith (#21) also successfully scored a touchdown, with Alonso again getting a PAT, putting the Bearcats ahead of the Yellow Jackets 27-20. Robinson scored his third touchdown in the game, bringing the Bearcats to a winning 33-20.
The Bearcats will play at Monroe this Friday at 7:30 p.m. Their next home game will be on Sept. 13 versus Chesterfield at 7:30 p.m. With this win, their season score is 1-0.
The Anson High School marching band performed their version of “I Get Around” by the Beach Boys for the halftime show. The Forest Hills High School marching band also performed separately.
