Lady Cats win first playoff game

The Lady Cats won a neutral playoff game on Friday and a playoff game on Monday.
The girls won their game against Weddingon, 49-46. They are now participating in the 2014 NCHSAA Women’s Basketball State Championship — 3A.
On Monday, the girls won 65-45 to South Point in a home playoff game. To support them, the Anson Board of Education adjourned its meeting early to watch the game.
Anson pulled ahead from the first quarter, making 20 points to South Point’s 7. Anson made another 17 points to South Point’s 12 in the second quarter, putting Anson ahead at halftime 37-19. In the third quarter, Anson still stayed ahead, making 16 points to South Point’s 9. South Point made more points than Anson in the final quarter, earning 17 to the Ladycats’ 12, but it was too late. Anson won the game, 65-45.
Jaida Robinson (#32, a junior) made 14 points. Jasmine Rivers (#1, a senior) followed up with 13 points while Shinitra Little (#44, a senior) contributed 12 points. Chanel Pauldo (#15, a junior) made 11 points, Zahria Alderson (#0, a senior) made 5 points, Calvina Bennett (#2, a freshman) made 4 points, Crystal Coxe (#5, a junior) made 3 points, Tymesha Melton (#24, a junior) made 2 points and Alexis Cole (#22, a freshman) made one point.
This game was the first round of the playoffs. The next round will be played today against Crest High School.
