The Anson High School girls’ varsity basketball team lost the second round of playoffs on Wednesday.


The Lady Cats lost 70-56 to Crest High School. They fell behind from the start, earning nine points to Crest’s 11 in the first quarter. Both teams made 13 points in the second quarter, making a close 22-24 halftime score. In the third quarter, Crest continued to pull ahead of Anson, making 23 points to the Lady Cats’ 19. In the final quarter they pulled even farther ahead, making 23 points to Anson’s 15 points.


Chanel Pauldo (#15, a junior) made 16 points for Anson. Jaida Robinson (#32, a junior) contributed 14 points, Jasmine Rivers (#1, a senior) made nine, Shinitra Little (#44, a senior) made eight, Calvina Bennett (#2, a freshman) made six, and Zahria Alderson (#0, a senior) made three points.


This game was part of the 2014 NCHSAA Women’s Basketball State Championship 3-A tournament.
