Both the varsity and JV teams lost their home games against West Montgomery on Thursday. The varsity team lost 14-9 while the JV team lost 15-1.
West Montgomery made two runs in the first inning while Anson made none. In the second inning, the Warriors made three runs while Anson made two. The Warriors made another run to Anson’s zero in the third inning, putting West Montgomery ahead 6-2.
The Bearcats began to make a comeback in the fourth inning, making four runs while the Warriors failed to make any, bringing them to an even 6-6. Neither team scored in the fifth inning, but in the sixth inning, the Warriors made two runs to Anson’s one, putting them barely ahead by a close 8-7 score.
The Bearcats couldn’t make up their deficit in the final inning, making only two runs to the Warriors’ six, and lost the game 14-9.
The boys will play at home against Central Academy on Monday at 7 p.m. and at Forest Hills High School (in Marshville) at 4:30 p.m. next Friday.
The Bearcats had a rough game, failing to make any runs in the first three innings while the Warriors made 10 points in the three innings combined. Both teams managed to make one run each in the fourth inning, but Anson fell even further behind in the fifth inning when they made no runs and the Warriors made four. The game ended at the end of the fifth inning with a 15-1 score.
The boys will play at home on Friday against Central Academy at 4 p.m. They will play at home against Piedmont on March 25 at 4:30 p.m.
