On Oct. 6, Harvest Ministries Outreach Center held a “grand reopening” in the parking lot of its facility after being displaced for six weeks due to the massive sinkhole located at the entrance near U.S. 74 in Wadesboro.
The event, which featured a bouncy house, horse and pony rides, a dunking booth, free food, games, and giveaways attracted hundreds of people. Several lucky attendants left with big prizes such as a notebook computer, $200 in cash, Carolina Panthers tickets, brand new bicycles, and more. Children were especially excited to meet Elmo and Dora the Explorer.
Lead Pastor Steve Adams shared, “As I have said before, HMOC exists for all people, and it is our desire to be a hand extended for not only spiritual areas, but practical and life essentials as well.”
He added, “This day is simply a reminder to this community that we are still here, we are still focused on offering the love of Christ through serving others, and being active in the lives of the great people of Anson County.”
The day concluded with roughly 75 people dedicating or recommitting their lives to a relationship with Jesus Christ. Adams concluded, “Many people are hurting, many people have needs, and many people simply need hope, which is what this is about— pointing people to the hope that only comes from Christ.
