Maebelle Smith Howell, 96, of Ansonville passed away Oct. 15, 2012 at Lillie Bennett Nursing Home in Wadesboro.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Concord United Methodist Church. Rev. Robert Burr will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

Howell was born Jan. 26, 1916 in Stanly County to the late Jason and Nannie Blalock Smith. She was a faithful member of Concord United Methodist Church and a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Millard Cleveland Howell and daughter, Anna Howell Woodall.

She is survived by sons, M.C. Howell Jr. and wife Linda of Monroe, Robert Jason Howell and wife Diane of Greenville, Gary Okle Howell and wife Cyndy of Salisbury, Md.; daughters, Nancy Howell Funderburk and husband, Ed of Ansonville, and Debbie Howell Allen and husband, Lannie of Ansonville; son-in-law, Donald Howell; brothers, Victor Smith and Baxter Smith both of Norwood; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
