WADESBORO — Shelby Helms “Moon” Phillips, 75, passed away Nov. 2, 2012 at her home.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Hunter officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 12:30 p.m., and other times at 1770 Hwy. 109 South.

Phillips was born in Anson County, on April 20, 1937, a daughter of the late John Frank Helms and Rosa Faulkner Helms. She was a retired LPN having worked many years with Anson Community Hospital, Dr. D.W. Davis and Dr. Fred Burney. She was a member of First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Thomas Phillips Jr.; infant daughter, Marsha Gene Phillips; two sisters, Margie Deese and Ann Adcock.

Surviving are her sons, Gerald Phillips and wife, Melissa of Wadesboro and David Phillips of Charlotte; her grandchildren, Holly Blackwelder and husband Bud of McFarlan and Brooke McKenzie of Wadesboro; her great-grandchildren, Destiny and Austin Blackwelder.

Also surviving are two sisters, Gay Bowers of Peachland and Loretta Burr and husband Carol of Sumter, S.C.
