The Anson Record - State wildlife officer arrested

Anson County Sheriff’s Deputies and the SBI have arrested a local state wildlife officer regarding the burning of his own house. Anson County Sheriff Tommy Allen said that firefighters were called to a residence at 28 E. Smith St. in Ansonville sometime after 2 a.m. on Sunday, June 20. The house was fully engulfed in flames when the fire was reported and firefighters arrived. The house was a total loss. It was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The owner and family had recently moved to another residence.

On Monday, Aug. 2, investigators arrested the owner, Roger A. Davis Jr., 40. Davis was charged with: fraudulently burning a dwelling and insurance fraud. Both charges are felonies. He was also charged with filing a false police report and obstructing justice.

Davis was released on a written promise. A first appearance court date is set for Aug. 23.

Allen said that Davis had been a wildlife enforcement officer in the county for a number of years. He is currently on administrative leave.

Airforce13, I am so sick and tired of hearing about how crooked the Sheriff or any other Law Enforcement person is. If you or anyone else have factual proof, not what you HEARD, then bring it forward to the District Attorney! If not then all you are doing is spreading lies! I know the Sheriff and I know Mr. Davis and you are right, Mr. Davis is a great Law Enforcement officer, but like I said before, he will have a chance to prove his case in court. As far as you go, if you want to post negative comments about Law Enforcement then do it through a legal court document. Otherwise you are just a bag of wind!

Hmm... you might want to be careful on who you are so ready to defend Slater. In defense of the other postings, I do know where those comments are coming from. I have NUMEROUS examples that I will not go into on here, but there is some definite TRUTH to those brief statements. As far as calling them "outright full fledged idiot" - I think you might better watch your words fella. I think you might be the blinded idiot with the wool pulled over your eyes.

I will be praying for the truth to come out. From everything I know and heard about Officer Davis is that he is a fine man. I don't jump the gun to believe the worst in someone just because it is alleged. But freedom of speech does give these others the right to post their opinions.

First off, the Sheriff is not crooked! I think anyone who comes on here and makes a comment like that is an outright full fledged idiot! I don't know the circumstances surrounding this officer's arrest. I can assure you, that if a warrant was issued, then there was plenty of evidence to support such a fact. Now that being said, Mr. Davis has an opportunity to plea his case in court and if the evidence does not support the charges, he will be found not guilty. All in all, none of this has anything to do with the Sheriff. Just because you don't like the fact Mr. Davis was arrested doesn't give you the right to blame the Sheriff for his deputies doing their job! The fact that the Sheriff allowed his deputies to make the arrest on a fellow Law Enforcement officer, shows that no one is above the law in his eyes and that he makes sure that his deputies treat everyone the same. So go pound salt!
