The Anson County Chamber of Commerce wishes to extend a huge thank you to all the volunteers and organizations that gave of their time to provide assistance to the more than 1,000 Cycle NC cyclists who stopped in Wadesboro on Oct. 3. Wadesboro was the major lunch and rest stop break for riders from all over the United States and from foreign countries who were traveling from Brevard to Carolina Beach in North Carolina.

We would like to recognize the town of Wadesboro, the Wadesboro Fire and Police Department, the Sheriff’s Department, the State Employees Credit Union, Uptown Wadesboro, the Partnership for Children, and the many individual volunteers, who made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, provided water, gave directions, answered questions, and served as goodwill ambassadors. Special thanks also to Parsons Drug Store for serving as a quick first aid for one of the riders.

Dr. Don Altieri deserves very special thanks for his efforts in assisting with planning this event alongside the Chamber. Numerous phone calls and contacts were needed to pull it all together and his support was greatly appreciated. We heard many wonderful comments from the riders on what a great stop it was and how much they liked Wadesboro and very much appreciated our hospitality. We had an information center set up so the bike riders could see all that Anson has to offer, which included information about the Chamber’s bike ride in November. You never know just who might want to come back for a longer visit.

Again, our warmest appreciation to all those who spent time on the square and for showing our bike rider visitors what a great place Anson is.

Lynn Edwards

Executive Director, Anson County Chamber of Commerce
