After 50 years of dedicated service, beloved Wadesboro Town Clerk Nancy Huntley worked her last day on March 28.
Members of the Town Council and staff held a small ceremony showing appreciation for Huntley’s 50 years of dedicated service. Mayor Pro Tem Bobby Usrey spoke about Huntley’s tireless efforts on behalf of the town and several participants fought back tears.
Huntley joined the town in 1962 and became Town Clerk in 1964. She has held the position ever since. Huntley has seen numerous mayors and town managers throughout the years.
Town Manager Alex Sewell commented, “The town is so thankful for Ms. Nancy’s decades of service. She is the epitome of what we strive for in our town government: kind, fair, and responsive. I have learned so much from Ms. Nancy in my brief time here and she will be missed greatly. However, I know she is looking forward to spending more time with her family. The real winners are her pets Benny the cat and Sabbath the dog.”
