Old Glory flies from top of Belk Building

A new American flag is now flying from the top of the Belk Building. Anson County Manager Lawrence Gatewood said that sketches from the 1890s show a flag flying in the center of the building’s roof, so it was decided to add a flag to the newly renovated building. Unlike the 19th century, however, the flag is now illuminated at night. — Abby Cavenaugh, Editor
