On Saturday, May 26, John Green with Anson Sign Co. installed the first name plate on new welcome signs that are being constructed at the eastern, western, northern and southern borders of the county.
The first sign is located near Peachland on Highway 74 West. The next sign is also nearly finished, and is located on Highway 74 East near the Pee Dee River. Signs will also be placed on Highway 52 North and South.
The signs cost a total of $8,352.75 each, and are being funded by the county and by donations from Anson Economic Development Corporation, the Anson County Tourism Development Authority and Pee Dee Electric Membership Corporation. T.J. Masonry of Polkton constructed the stone base, while Anson Sign Co. created the name plate, which is made from sandblasted durable foam.
All four signs are expected to be done by June 1.
