Although rumors spread on Thursday that Morven Mayor Houston Pratt had been arrested for communicating threats, the offense is far less serious than that, Morven Police Chief Rick Little said.
“He was not arrested,” Little said. “Officer [Robert] Mims served him with papers for a criminal summons.”
The summons is in regards to charges of communicating threats on Tuesday, May 1, Little said. Although his office did not investigate the matter, Anson County Sheriff Tommy Allen said that Lorenzo Steele was the complainant. The threats allegedly occurred at the Morven Town Hall.
A court date has been set for May 15.
