Anson Middle School is hosting the second annual Bearcat Brawl baseball and softball tournament next month.

The tournament will be conducted over a two-day period and feature teams from Anson, Piedmont, Porter Ridge, Union Academy, Long and Rockingham.

The tournament will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 8 with the initial three softball games at the Field of Dreams Athletic Complex in Polkton. The softball tournament will conclude on Saturday, April 9 at the Field of Dreams, with the second-day games beginning at 9 a.m.

The baseball segment of the tournament will begin at 9 a.m. April 9 at Anson High School, located on Anson High School Road in Wadesboro.

The Bearcat Brawl host is also sponsoring a canned food drive. Any community member interested in attending the softball tournament who makes a canned food donation will receive a dollar off of the regular admission price.

Regular admission to either tournament day or location is $5. Children age 5 and under may enter the tournament for free.

Marjorie Jaynes is a seventh-grade math teacher at Anson Middle School. She is also the school’s yearbook and school newspaper adviser.
