The 16th annual Anson County Chamber Open will be held Friday, April 22 at the Twin Valley Country Club. Deadline for entering the captain’s choice tournament is April 13.

Golfers will have a choice of morning and afternoon tee times — teeing off at either 8 a.m. or 1 p.m. Each time slot will feature a roster of 20 teams.

Afternoon players will enjoy a lunch buffet beginning at 11:30 a.m. and the morning golfers will eat at 1 p.m. Organizers said slots are filling up fast and encourage participants to sign up as soon as possible.

The tournament’s presenting co-sponsors are Waste Connections of the Carolinas and the Anson County Chamber of Commerce. Sponsorship levels are corporate ($1,000), platinum ($500), gold ($320) and silver ($150). Individual entries are available for $65 and include lunch, golf and mulligan.

Prizes will be awarded for both morning and afternoon golfers; “Split the Pot” will also be available again this year. On-course prizes include closest to the pin, longest putt, longest drive and a $10,000 hole-in-one prize. Goody bags will be given out to each player.

The ball drop game returns this year with numbered golf balls available for purchase at the cost of $5 for one ball or five balls for $20. At the end of the tournament, the golf balls will be dropped from a Pee Dee Electric bucket truck at a designated hole on the course. The ball closest to the hole will win its sponsor a cash prize of $200.

A tournament raffle will also be held, with a gas grill offered as the first-place prize and a patio heater for the second-place winner. Tickets are $1 each or 25 for $20 and may be purchased before the tournament at the Chamber of Commerce. Prize sponsors are Ambassador Health & Rehab of Wadesboro and H.W. Little & Co.

Participants do not have to be present or play in the tournament to win the ball drop or raffle.

The Chamber Open is one of the chamber’s two annual fundraisers. The second is the Big Game Hunt Tournament, which is held in November. For more information or to register a team, call 704-694-4181.
