Wadesboro– Anson Bank & Trust honored Anson County’s 2010-2011 Teacher of the Year, Daniel Norwood, recently at the company’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders. Norwood teaches seventh and eighth grade social studies, as well as a college prep class – Advancement via Individual Determination at Anson Middle School.
“Teachers have a special mission of encouraging and molding our children, to become the person they want to be by dreaming big dreams and realizing those dreams,” said Tara Eudy, Anson Bank & Trust’s board of directors’ chair, who recognized Norwood. “Daniel received a Bachelor of Science in social studies education from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Mr. Norwood is in his eighth year of teaching in Anson County and enjoys coaching baseball, sightseeing, visiting old cemeteries and politics.”
Additionally, Anson Contractors, Inc., was recognized as Anson Bank and Trust’s 2011 Outstanding Business.
“Anson Contractors, Inc., was formed in 2006. Their primary focus of work is grading and site preparation for end use. For brothers Bob and David Sikes, this type of work was not new to them as their father had worked in the construction business for many years. Anson Contractors has completed many projects in North Carolina, as well as South Carolina. They are providing jobs for local people and making a difference in Anson County,” stated Dana Maness, president of Anson Bank & Trust.
Norwood was presented with a monetary donation and a desk clock frame from Anson Bank & Trust. The clock frame featured an original piece of art depicting his area of teaching. Bob and David Sikes received a grandfather wall clock in appreciation of his contribution to the local economy.
