WADESBORO — Mary Scarborough Gaddy Ratliff, 93, died Sept. 25, 2012 at the Lillie Bennett Nursing Center.

Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Friday at Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Bennie Clodfelter officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends at the funeral home beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Ratliff was born in Mt. Gilead on Sept. 2, 1919, a daughter of the late Oscar Robert and Mary Binnie Scarborough. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church and the Tex Ledbetter Sunday school class, as well as the Down to Earth garden club. Over the years she had worked at McLean’s Dress Shop, Lillian’s, Scarborough Hardware Co. and Tollison’s Pharmacy.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Gaddy Lorbacher of Wadesboro and Hilda Gaddy (William Dennis) Courter of Greensboro; five grandchildren, MaLinda Speelman, Corey Morris, Joe Moore, John Moore and David Moore; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Tom “Dunk” Gaddy and Ray Ratliff, as well as six brothers, Landon, Herman, Dewey, Buren, Steve and Ray Scarborough. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 118 E. Morgan St., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
