ANSONVILLE — Carol Dean Jenrette Benton, 82, died at her home on Sept. 28, 2012.

Services will be 3 p.m. Monday in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home, Wadesboro. Private interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.

The family will greet friends Monday beginning at 2 p.m. until time for the service and other times at the home.

She was born Dec. 3, 1929 in Brunswick County, a daughter of the late Walter Regan Jenrette and the late Cora Lee Bennett Jenrette. Her husband, Herbert Wilson Benton.

Benton was a graduate of Wadesboro High School Class of 1946 and attended King’s Business College in Charlotte. It was during her time at King’s that she accepted a position with The Bank of Wadesboro where she worked for 44 years, retiring from what was then United Carolina Bank. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Wadesboro.

Surviving are her children, Carol (Nat) Black and Herby (Kathryn) Benton, both of Ansonville, and Walter (Shannon) Benton of Wadesboro; her grandchildren, Stephanie (Paul) Maner, Natalie (Bryan) Threadgill, Larry “Spud” Benton and Chris Benton all of Ansonville, Madison and Eli Benton both of Wadesboro; her great-grandchildren, Grant and Garrett Maner, Blair and Blake Threadgill and Cameron Benton; and her sister, Vicky Vaughan of Atlanta, Ga.

Memorials may be made to Red Hill Baptist Church, Weekday Children’s Ministry, c/o Theresa Wilson, 1104 Mt. Vernon Road, Wadesboro, NC 28170.
