Anson County Schools makes 2012-13 school calendar change

Anson County Schools are adjusting the attendance calendar due to a mandate by the State Personnel Commission designating Nov. 12 as the day to close government agencies to observe Veterans Day.

Therefore, Nov. 9 will be a regular student attendance day. Schools will be closed for students and staff on Nov. 12.

Additionally, report cards will now be released on Nov. 13.

Well someone needs to tell all of the "smart" people at Anson County Schools that the state list of holidays for 2012 was posted several years ago. It is the state policy that if the holiday falls on Saturday the holiday is observed on Friday before. If however the holiday falls on Sunday then the holiday is observed on Monday after. Don't blame this on the state, blame it on the "smart" people who never take blame for anything when they screw up.
