Fire Prevention Week was established to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire, the tragic 1871 blaze that killed more than 250 people. Wadesboro Fire Department joined Wadesboro Primary School in recognizing National Fire Safety Week on Oct. 10.
The theme for this year’s Fire Prevention Week is “Have 2 Ways Out.” Dusty the Dinosaur and Fire Inspector Mark Sessions helped students learn the importance of smoke detectors in the home. Later, Sparky The Fire Dog visited students while they toured the fire truck.
“We would like to thank all of the members of the Wadesboro Fire Department who volunteered and helped make this a memorable day,” said Rosanna Teal of Wadesboro Primary School.
