More than 50 costumed kids braved the wind and threatening weather Saturday for Uptown Wadesboro, Inc.’s annual Fall Festival.

The festival included pumpkin painting, hay rides and games, as well as trick-or-treating at 11 uptown businesses. The highlight of the event was the costume contest, held in front of the Anson County Courthouse. Prizes were given away in several different age groups, and included categories such as “best painted face” and “most creative.”

Sponsors who donate to Uptown Wadesboro, Inc., throughout the year made the free event possible. “We do all of this at no cost to the children,” said Don Altieri, speaking on behalf of Uptown Wadesboro.
