Nathaniel “Red” Hudson was born in Anson County on Aug. 25, 1941 to the late Madie Bell McLendon Hudson and the late James Edward Wyatt. He died on Dec. 12, 2012 after a brief illness at Rockingham Manor Nursing facility in Rockingham.

He attended the public schools of Anson County. He was employed with Holly Farms in Monroe for 14 years.

He was preceded in death by his former wife, Nezzie Hudson Horne; a daughter, Priscilla Gainey; three brothers, Bud Hudson, John Hudson, Jr., and John Tyler Hudson; a sister, Loraine Hudson Coleman; and four infant sons.

He leaves to cherish fond memories: six daughters, Debra A. Hudson (Herbert) of Lilesville; Bettye Redfield (Roger) of Wingate; Annette Hudson of Troy, N.C.; Myra Sturdivant (James) of Oakboro, N.C.; Angela Radford (Altheodor) of Lilesville; Shelia Redfearn (Bobby) of Pageland, S.C.; two sisters, Edna L. Sturdivant, of Polkton, and Sallie A. Collins (John), of Lilesville; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other loving friends.
