MARSHVILLE — Douglas Mackie Tarlton, 66, died Dec. 22, 2012 at Hospice House in Monroe. He was born in Union County on June 10, 1946, the first son of the late Roy and Doris Tarlton. He was a lifetime resident of the area.

He graduated from Forest Hills High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. he was self-employed as a logger and a timber cruiser.

Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Eaton and her husband Roger and grandson Colin, all of Morehead City; one step-grandson; brother, Steve Tarlton and wife Lynn of Peachland; sister, Sandra Hensley and her husband Darrell of Asheville and Daytona Beach, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and special friends.

Funeral services will be private.
