UPDATE: 4 p.m. Tuesday  The Wadesboro Police Department has identified the victims of the shooting on Monday evening. Police identified the victims Tuesday as Jerry Thomas Rorie, 25, and Marcus Antonio Allen, 24.

The WPD is still investigating. The police believe it was gang violence, probably the rival gangs Bloods and Crips. The shooting took place at a residence on Salisbury Street. One of the victims ran approximately 50 yards east up the sidewalk to the 74 Stop & Shop where he collapsed. He later died of his injuries.

The shooter has not been apprehended, though the WPD is talking to persons of interest, according to a WPD spokesperson. Anyone with any additional information on the shooting is encouraged to contact the police department at 704-694-2167.

The shooting on Salisbury Street on Monday evening left multiple fatalities, according to Anson County Sheriff Tommy Allen.

There were several DOAs, according to the sheriff, who said that the Wadesboro Police Department is conducting the investigation. A WPD spokesperson declined to comment. WCNC reported two fatalities. It is unclear whether the shooter is among the dead, arrested or at large.

More than a dozen police and other responder vehicles were at the site long after the incident. An area from the 74 Stop & Shop at the corner of Salisbury Street and Catherine Lane extending roughly down to the Food Mart was cordoned off by police.

One bystander advised the reporter to be wary. “This isn’t over,” he said, pointing out what appeared to be a covered body at a gas station cordoned off by police tape.

His friend agreed. “There ain’t no way to stop gang violence,” he said as they walked away from the scene.

If you put yourself out there to be a gang there is only going to be 2 options for you. Death or prison.

I am Sheri's daughter who is half black and have three other sisters who are half black. My mother has grandchildren who are 75% black so color has nothing to do with this. It has been over a year and the police department have yet to make an arrest!!!!!!!!! That reward that they put out there didn't help any nor did the press conference. My mother's body was left in an a damn abandoned building and was killed.

Bigsis222 I apologize for your loss and I remember when your sister was killed, but honestly the police department has never held a press conference as they did for your sister, and they never offered an award as they did for your sister, when she was killed our streets were terrorized by the cops every black person in Wadesboro was suspect. So I don't know if you are from Wadesboro or not but I saw your sisters face on every news paper every flyer and every window. A lot of families were actually hurt that out of all the murders that has happened in anson county your sister received the most attention. Really not trying to be rude but what about the people who were murdered and the police didn't even attempt to find their killer, Im just saying!

At least these latest murders were reported on promptly. When my sister Sheri Lynn Evangelisti was murdered last February. Initially there was merely mention of a body found. I believe that lack of notifying the public ended up being a major reason why the people involved in my sisters murder have been allowed to go unpunished.

The closest I have gotten to any sort of answer is that one of the participants was killed in July. This has not been confirmed as I have not even been given the decency of a callback from your District Attorney Reese Saunders.

I seen this as I rode thru last nite on my way to Charlotte, shortly after midnite. I dont know anyone who was involved or the victims, all I know is somebodys son was laying on the ground as I drove past. My heart goes out to the families of the victims. Murder is not the answer.
