“Soul Street was an absolute sensation at Sweet Pea! They are awesome! I would highly recommend them anywhere, anytime…especially for a family friendly event.” That’s the opinion of Deborah Yarington of the Bozeman, Mont., Sweet Pea Arts Festival, where Soul Street Dance Company was the first dance company in 30 years to get a standing ovation.

Soul Street Dance Company’s latest performance, “Breakin’ Backwards,” will come to the Ansonia Theatre on March 12 at 7 p.m. While the dance company’s name suggests that it appeals only to a young demographic, their performance, including music from Count Basie to Elvis, the Temptations, Aerosmith, and Michael Jackson, appeals to all ages and ethnicities.

Soul Street concerts consist of high-energy movement that will keep you at the edge of your seat. It’s a show that will make you laugh, and it keeps audiences of all ages entertained. According to German newspaper The Siegen Daily, “Soul Street Dance wowed audiences with mind-boggling, fast-changing footsteps, front and back somersaults, cartwheels either one-armed or completely in the air, and outrageous figures.”

Take a break from your work week routine. You’ll be totally entertained. Reserved seating tickets ($10, $5 students) are still available in Wadesboro at the Anson County Arts Council and Lacy’s and online at www.ansoniatheatre.com. Call the Arts Council (704-694-4950) to select your seat. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
