Helen Jean LuAllen, died April 5, 2009, at Sandhills Medical Center in Hamlet.
Funeral services were held April 9 at 1 p.m. at Smith's Memorial Chapel with Elder Glen Rorie officiating. Visitation was at 12:30 p.m.
Interment followed in the ceremony at Westview Memorial Park and a repast was held at East Rock Ford Baptist Church.
She was born Aug. 11, 1935, to the late June and Clara "Dolly" Caraway (Teal) in Wadesboro. She attended the public schools of Anson County.
LuAllen attended beauty school in Charlotte and was a beautician for many years. She married LeRoy LuAllen and they later opened Community Grocery Store in 1966.
She was a devoted member of East Rock Ford Baptist Church until she fell ill.
LuAllen was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy LuAllen.
She is survived by her sister, Charlie Anita Dean of Winston-Salem; an aunt, Augusta McCormick of Wadesboro; brother-in-law, Bonnie W. LuAllen of Monroe; five sisters-in-law, Ellen West of Woodbridge, Va., Clarie Rivers and Rose LuAllen of Charlotte, Alfreda Roberts of Virginia and Louise LuAllen of Burlington; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The services are in the care of Smith's Funeral Directors.
