The Anson County NAACP Jubilee Day is held each year on the first day of the year to celebrate the Emancipation Proclamation. It was held this year at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church on Jan. 1, at noon.

Rev. Nathaniel Floyd was the speaker of the hour. Along with members of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and visitors, the Anson County Executive Board members attended.

Those attending included: Donnie K. Lewis, president; Leon Gatewood, first vice president; Vancine Sturdivant, second vice president; Rev. Joann Bennett, third vice president; Kishia Dunlap, secretary; Margret Meachem, assistant secretary; Emma Williams, treasurer; Ross Streater, assistant treasurer; and Jarvis Woodburn, Shirley Allen and Fredrick Colson, members at large.
