Hundreds braved the cold temperatures on Jan. 26 to take part in a block party hosted by Harvest Ministries Outreach Center on Salisbury Street in Wadesboro. The event was held in the parking lot of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church.
Lead Pastor of HMOC, Steve Adams, shared, “This community and neighborhood recently had a terrible tragedy and loss of young lives, and it is our duty and responsibility as a church, a county, and citizens to do whatever it takes to make a difference where we live.”
Guests of the event enjoyed the Moon Bounce (courtesy of HOLLA!), free hot dogs, drinks, popcorn, hygiene bags, groceries, games, prizes, special appearances from Shrek and Elmo, and more. Adams added, “To see the difference that we all want and desire to happen, it’s going to take days and partnerships like today to happen.”
Many lucky guests left with cash in their hands, smiles on their faces, and the hope that the neighborhood will continue to see positive things develop even from such a tragedy.
Founder of HMOC, Pastor Tim Adams, said, “Special thanks to Ebenezer Church, HOLLA! and the many others who worked together to show this community love, hope, and encouragement…today is an example of what can happen when we come together”
To close out the day, Pastor Adams told the crowd, “People around you care about this neighborhood, Pastor Barr and Ebenezer Church, HOLLA!, Harvest, and many others are here for you…be sure to take advantage of the resources right next door.”
The event concluded with a special prayer for the area and nearly 100 hands being raised to accept Christ and make a change in lifestyle.
