WADESBORO — Meat packaging plants over the country have shut down due to outbreaks of COVID-19 among their workers, resulting in a national beef shortage. This shortage has caused the price of beef to increase, and Rayfield meat center may soon have to raise the prices of their ground chuck and hamburger.

Despite the beef shortage, business has gone up at Rayfield Meat Market since the lockdown. Brenda Bailey, the business’ co-owner, attributes their good fortune to their dedication to providing quality products with superior customer service.

Rayfield Meat Center, a butcher shop and specialty grocery store located on Hwy. 109 South in Wadesboro, has been a staple of the Anson County community for over 50 years. Tom and Brenda Bailey have owned the business since 2004.

Specializing in homemade whole hog country sausage for over 50 years, the Baileys “strive to make sure that your family receives quality, no chemicals added, no preservative pork products,” said Brenda.

In addition to its pork products, Rayfield also offers deli meats, cheese, hams, steaks, and ground chuck.

Rayfield has an in-house grill and is known across the area for both their breakfast sandwiches as well as their burgers.

“At Rayfield Meat Center,” said Brenda, “we’ll give you the attention and personal service you deserve. We consider ourselves the next-door neighbors in the community. Come on in and set a spell, you enter as strangers but leave as friends.”
